Dutch estate
A landowner approached Wolterinck for the design of a forest hut on the Utrechtse Heuvelrug, but then let us redesign the rest of his garden. It became an oasis of peace with just a few trees and shrubs in the field and ornamental grass following the curved lines of the undulating terrain. A rigid front and side garden were planted for the elevated hut, coordinating perfectly with the wooden house. Wolterinck opted for hedgerows, evergreens and an airy pergola with wisteria. Disruptive thicket was removed to create wider view and sometimes surprising views. It became a natural-looking garden – as if it had never been anything else.
